    St Philip School is a bilingual school at the heart of Rome’s centre. We are a bilingual school in that all teaching activities are performed either in Italian or in English (up to 30 hours each week). Our school offers a preschool-to-secondary educational path specifically designed to ensure our children achieve native-like fluency in both
    English and Italian.

    Our innovative teaching method hinges on the continuous post-graduate training of our Italian
    and native/mother tongue English teachers, as well as constant cooperation with leading institutions in pedagogical and teaching practices.

    Our pupils are constantly supervised during school hours (8-18). From noon onwards, while playing, having lunch, during classes, their native/mother tongue English teacher is always with them; after playtime, the afternoon schedule is a harmonious blend which features music classes and psychomotricity hours. All our grades offer a 40-hour timetable.

    Fill in the form in this page to receive info: we will get back to you as soon as possible to arrange an appointment and/or to provide, either via telephone or email, all the information you require. Requesting information entails no obligation or commitments.

    Preschool (3 to 5 y/o)

    PRE-SCHOOL

    St Philip Preschool focuses on arts-and-crafts-based learning activities and learning through doing.

    The Italian school system is beset ‒on the one hand‒ by teaching steeped in excessive abstractness and ‒ on the other hand‒ teaching methods which are not informed by adequate theoretical expertise; most schools can be categorized accordingly.  Inevitably, abstractness and superficial memorizing of data and notions result in bored students, dissatisfied by their learning experience.

    Our school is a crucible where “learn through doing” meets “theoretical expertise”. In our bilingual preschool, competent educators foster the growth of our children in an educational environment shaped by psychomotricity, music, arts and crafts, where all activities are specifically designed better to prepare our children for later education. Our preschool curriculum: 25 hours per week, several in English.

    Primary School (6 to 10 y/o)

    PRIMARY SCHOOL

    St Philip Primary is a state-licensed bilingual school where “learn through doing” meets “theoretical expertise”, a teaching-learning setting where our children thrive and spontaneously learn English owing to their everyday activities in class.

    Our Primary School (6 to 10 years) fosters and promotes our children’s direct engagement in acquiring literacy, numeracy, foundational education at the heart of Italian culture, in the context of an ever-broadening cultural horizon, safe-internet and new-media skills.

    It is a social and cultural education which encompasses the fundamentals tools of learning (literacy, numeracy) and enriches each student’s educational experience with multidisciplinary knowledge and trans-disciplinary themes and concepts.

    Cultural and social education mainly relies on multilingual and intercultural education. Native languages, languages of schooling, foreign languages taught in school, ‒ as languages through which education is attained ‒ promote and foster a child’s individual right to the full development of their identity while in contact with linguistic and cultural otherness.

    Multilingual and intercultural education is key to fostering diversity and academic success; it is fundamental in promoting social inclusion and democratic participation.

    Our bilingual primary school pursues each student’s constitutional right to the acquisition of foundational education. Our students pursue the development of their cognitive, emotional, social, corporeal, ethical and religious dimensions, alongside the acquisition of fundamental and indispensable knowledge. Ours is a bilingual primary in which:

     a broad set of multidisciplinary resources are utilized to promote and develop each individual’s critical thinking;

    all cognitive styles of learning are recognized and valued, a wide variety of teaching styles are valued and implemented;

    confident students acquire and develop skills to become competent citizens at both a national and international level. Primary School Curriculum: 24h, several in English.

    As our students progress in their educational journey we expand one grade level each year to ensure they pursue their academic and educational growth here at St Philip. In 2020/21 we activated year 6 (grade 6/prima media), in 2023-24 we are launching our High school offering.

    We constantly strive for the right synergic balance among humanities, STEM, visual arts, music and drama.

    Our Lower Secondary School focuses on helping our students successfully acquire the necessary knowledge and skills so that they can realise their full educational potential.

     Multilingual and intercultural education is key to fostering diversity and academic success; it is fundamental in promoting social inclusion and democratic participation. In learning how to love studying and how to learn, not only do our students make all-important progress on a successful lifelong learning journey, but they also acquire a method which will see them through to a successful adult life.

    Our teaching staff expertly provides pastoral care and guidance to meet our pupils’ deepest needs, foster their empowerment, instils self-reliance and nurtures critical thinking We build and re-arrange flexible timetables to provide a balanced curriculum experience and ensure we best meet the needs of our students.

    The synergic educational balance we deploy is aimed at fostering and promoting:

    academic critical thinking;

    real-life critical thinking and skills; ethical responsibility; tidiness and organizational skills; manual craftsmanship; practical knowledge and understanding of materials and tools; our ultimate objective is to ensure the transition from factual knowledge and skills to competences.
